Where are we now?
The abundance of blessings that God has
poured out on Calvary is amazing. If you
would have told me we would have such a
wonderful opportunity for ministry after a
major hurricane, I would have had a hard
time believing you. However, God is more
than faithful.
Here is
a recap of all the activity that has taken
place on our campus:
-
Distribution tent: 1000-1200 cars per day
receiving supplies; water, food, ice,
diapers, baby supplies, hygiene kits, etc.
-
One
of two areas in New Orleans to get water
early after the storm
-
MO
Kitchen: 957,000 meals served, 126 days
on the job
-
Calvary School returns Oct. 3, 2005: One
of three schools to open in New Orleans
on the same day.
-
Chainsaw & Mudout teams from almost
every state
-
Well over 20,000 Bibles given out in
English, Spanish and Vietnamese
-
Salvations & Rededications: We were
blessed with many coming to Christ.
-
North American Mission Board of SBC
Partnership: Project NOAH (New Orleans
Area Hope); 1000 homes to be rebuilt and
20 churches
-
Louisiana Baptist Convention
Partnership: RV Park; 16 sites for
people to come into the area and help
our churches minister; includes water,
sewer, electrical and wireless internet
-
St.
Bernard Partnership: Staging area at
Calvary for MO Baptist Convention to
work in St. Bernard parish
-
Toys, School Supplies, Block Parties:
Too many to count
-
Partnering Churches: FBC Hendersonville,
TN and FBC Many, LA have contributed in
many ways.
-
Rebuilding has begun. Our facilities
should be completed by summer.
-
Renovations: We have been accepted by
the Louisiana Baptist Builders as a
summer project. We are in the middle of
renovating our children’s education
building this summer. Skilled workers
are needed.
-
Missions Home: We have purchased a home
adjacent to our campus. We were blessed
with a grant from Louisiana Baptists to
help with the purchase. The home will be
used to house groups coming in to assist
us in our rebuild and will then be used
to house other groups that want to help
New Orleans area churches.
God has
been amazing to watch as he has chosen to
use Calvary after the storm. Will you
continue to pray for us as there is much
work still to be accomplished? Will you
consider giving to our disaster fund?
(Monies are used to offset our costs of
additional ministry.) Will you consider
coming to New Orleans to help Calvary or
another church in the area?
